Courses 課程特色Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning(TCML) at Tzu Chi Academy Long Island(TCALI) offers two semester courses per academic year, with a total of 24 classes, 3 hours in each class. Our curriculum is based on materials provided by the Overseas Community Affairs Council, “Let’s Learn Mandarin”, supplemented with topical and contemporary resources to ensure students receive a well-rounded education. The first and second sessions of class are language learning plus teaching Taiwanese cultural characteristics, such as traditional folk skills, traditional festivals, arts, etc. The third session is cultural class, which includes: dragon and lion dance, calligraphy, tea ceremony, flower arrangement, making Tanghulu (sugar-coated fruit on a stick), painted lanterns, folk snacks, etc. Our communicative teaching style emphasizes practical, real-life situations, enabling students to build confidence and fluency in Mandarin quickly.
