TCALI Weekly reminder for the 13th week of the 1st semester: 12/15/2024, Homework check, Dismissal at 1PM
Greetings to all parents, teachers, and volunteers,
Last week, a total of 40 students signed up to participate in the class representative speech contest, and the contest was competitive in every group. One notable observation was that many students have grown taller and more mature. Additionally, their speech skills have generally improved, with clear articulation and steady stage presence, and the content was especially impressive. Each preparation and participation help enhance the students' Chinese language skills, so we encourage parents to motivate their children to participate more. The results of the competition have been announced on the school's website, and we congratulate the winners. The next in-school contest is the recitation contest on 1/5/25. We wish all students great performances.
*This week is the last week of the first semester for parent-teacher conferences. Please cooperate with the teacher’s arrangements and participate on time. Also, there will be a homework check this Sunday, so students, please remember to bring your homework books back to school.
*This Sunday morning, 12/15, the Tzu Chi Youth Orchestra Long Island (TCYOLI, https://tcyoli.blogspot.com/) will perform Christmas songs in the school's first-floor lobby, bringing the festive atmosphere early. Please be sure to arrive on time or early to enjoy the wonderful music. Additionally, the orchestra held a Christmas concert last Wednesday at the East Williston Village Hall, which was well-received by the residents. They are actively preparing for a spring concert next year, and we will share more information with you soon.
*Originally, several students were scheduled to perform at the Oyster Bay Manor Assisted Living this Sunday. However, due to their canceling all recent visitors recently, we will reschedule the visit for around Spring next year. We appreciate the students who signed up, and we will perform for the residents next time.
*The use of the gymnasium has been running smoothly, and we appreciate everyone's cooperation. This Sunday at 9 AM, the first adult badminton tournament will be held in the gymnasium. Everyone is welcome to come and cheer them on.
*We appreciate the many students who have signed up for “Test of Chinese as Foreign Language” (Chinese Language Proficiency Test) on 3/9/25. For those who have not yet registered, please take this opportunity to sign up at the front desk this Sunday (registration deadline). This is a great opportunity for parents and students to understand their progress in learning Chinese.
Here are other reminders for this week:
1/12/25: K-Bilingual
1/19/25: K-C
The school will be closed for the next two weeks (12/22 & 12/29). The next class will be on 1/5/25. Wishing everyone a joyful and peaceful Christmas and New Year!
