TCALI Weekly reminder for the 12th week(2S) 5/3: Mother’s Day Celebration, Registration Reminder for Current, New Students, and Summer Camp - Dismissal at 12 PM
This week’s Jing Si Aphorism: Filial piety cannot wait; doing good should not be delayed.
Dear Parents, Teachers, and Volunteers,
Last week’s e-waste recycling event was a great success! Some teachers took the opportunity to discuss with students the importance of recycling for environmental protection, while others led their entire classes to personally deliver the e-waste to the recycling truck. We believe that through hands-on participation in environmental actions, students will gain a deeper and more lasting impression. This recycling effort brought together Tzu Chi Academy from Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island. We are sincerely grateful to everyone who supported and contributed to this event, and we thank you all for doing your part to protect our planet.
This week at 11:00 AM, there will be a Mother’s Day celebration in the gym. The gym will not be open for parents to play sports. Mothers participating in the tea-serving ceremony are asked to arrive at 10:15 AM for rehearsal. Students participating in the tea-serving ceremony should wear proper and neat uniforms and arrive at 10:30 AM for rehearsal. The program will begin at 11:00 AM, and all classes should be seated according to the seating chart(refer to School’s Class webpage) by 10:50 AM. Fathers are welcome to come at 10:00 AM to rehearse the dance! After the event, carnations will be distributed to all mothers.
* In addition, we congratulate students Kaylie Yeung, Arthur Wang, and Chloe Shiho Chang for winning awards in the 4th Tzu Chi Cup Academic Competition. For more details, please visit the school’s contest information page. Our preschool classes and some Pinyin/bilingual classes are already full, and several culture and enrichment classes—such as badminton, computer programming, dance, kung fu, and hip hop—have begun waitlisting. Please make sure to select the appropriate next-level class when registering, and do not select “New Student Registration.”
** Registration for the 2026–2027 school year will close on May 17. Please help remind one anothers. You may scan this QR code to register.
Here are this week’s other reminders:
1. The Chinese typing competition for students in Grade 6 and above was successfully completed last week. The results will be announced on the school website soon—please stay tuned.
2. Our popular Tzu Chi Summer Camp is now open for registration! The camp will take place from 8/24 to 8/28. Please see the flyer here for more details. Interested families are asked to complete the online registration first, and then submit payment at the school. https://forms.gle/qmLwi4NYHTAu1inKA
In addition to our excellent local instructors, we have specially invited two teachers from Taiwan to teach traditional dance (including classical dance, ethnic minority dance, tea-picking dance, and Hakka umbrella dance) and traditional sports (such as Chinese yo-yo, flag techniques, martial arts, dragon dance, and lion dance). These are unique learning opportunities that are not commonly available, so we encourage everyone to take advantage and sign up!
3. There will be no classes next Sunday (5/10). We invite everyone to attend the Mother’s Day celebration jointly organized by the Tzu Chi New York Chapter. The event will take place at the park next to PS20 in Queens, starting at 10:00 AM.
